The sun continues to shine in St. George, Utah, for the Huntsman World Senior Games and the talent shined on the Volleyball courts at the finals for the Global Cup - World Senior Volleyball Championships. Four top women's teams from Canada, Germany, United States and Venezuela battled all week for the chance to play for the Gold on Thursday night. The evening started at 5:30 p.m. with the Bronze Medal match between Venezuela and the U.S. where the U.S. won in a two straight sets. At 7:30 p.m. the remaining teams, Canada and Germany, took the court. Each side traded a victory and then Germany went on a streak that put them on top in the best of five series. However, since Canada had entered the Gold Medal Match undefeated in tournament play, a single set to 25 was required to determine the winner. After trading points back and forth, Canada eventually pulled away and the spread was too great for Germany to overcome. Canada walked away with their second Global Cup Championship.
