The first day of check-in is done and in the books as the Dixie Center closed and locked it's doors at 9:00 PM. The day saw 3,208 people make their way through the process of receiving their ID Badge, Athlete Shirt and Athlete Bag. Check - in continues through the Games and times are available on the Check-in page.
The Games also held a series of Half-Minute To Win It competitions, every hour on the half hour to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Games. Participants were chosen from the crowd to play challenging games, with the winners taking home fun prizes. At 5:00 PM, the Games hosted it's official 30th Anniversary party with cake for all who attended. Both activities will be replicated next Sunday, October 9.
A highlight of the day was the Endurance awards with dozens of athletes receive recognition for 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of participation. This year, there are eleven individuals who have competed in every Huntsman World Senior Games ever held. Several of them were on hand today to recieve their special edition, commemorative letterman's jacket for this amazing milestone. An additional Endurance Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 9 at 3:00 PM in the Dixie Center Ball Room. This year 198 athletes will receive their 15 year ring, a new record.
