The Free Health Screenings offered at the Games are one of the ways the Huntsman World Senior Games works to fulfil its mission of fostering worldwide Peace, Health and Friendship.
All of the screenings at the Dixie Center are FREE to registered participants (and everyone on Saturday, Oct. 12). Upon entering the screening area you receive a passport that serves two purposes. First of all, it lists all of the available screenings. In the past the screening were listed alphabetically, but they will now be listed in Screening Packages. Secondly, the results of the screenings are recorded on the passport so participants have a permanent record that can be taken home. As in the past, participants can choose one, several, or all of the screenings.
In addition to the screenings, Athletes have the opportunity to get a flu shot for a nominal fee, which can be billed to insurance.
Participants may also elect to participate in one of the studies being conducted. Brigham Young University is performing a study on carotid artery, the University of California at San Francisco is studying coronary risk and the University of Utah is involved with a knee study.
The primary screening dates are October 9-11 and 15-17, and are open to registered participants only – participant credentials are required. On Saturday, October 12, everyone is welcome to take advantage of the limited screenings, including volunteers and members of the community.
Of course these Health Screenings should not replace regular doctor visits.
